Comparison with Bangladesh and Nepal uprisings aimed at defaming CJP: Dipke

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said comparisons of the Jantar Mantar protest against the NEET exam paper leak with the uprisings in Bangladesh and Nepal were being made to “defame” the outfit.

“Protests in Bangladesh and Nepal are being used to defame us. We are different,” Abhijeet Dipke said, responding to remarks made by exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen on the CJP protest during an interview with PTI.

She said on Sunday that while she had not followed the CJP protest in India, a clip of it reminded her of the 2024 student uprising in Bangladesh, which led to the ouster of then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“It was like that. That student movement in Bangladesh fooled us. Because we thought the students wanted to abolish the quota system. Sheikh Hasina had also agreed to their demands, but ultimately the government fell. Later, we found that jihadis were behind that movement. The fallout has not been good for Bangladesh,” Nasreen was quoted as saying by PTI.

The CJP held a 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the paper leak that led to the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as education minister last month.
