Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised North Korean President Kim Jong Un for “strongly supporting” Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
He thanked the North Korean leader ahead of his visit to Pyongyang on Tuesday to strengthen defense ties between the two nuclear-armed nations.
The two countries have been historical allies since the founding of North Korea after World War II. Moscow-Pyongyang ties strengthened after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Putin, however, has become somewhat isolated internationally in the face of mounting pressure. So now taking refuge in friendly countries.

Putin praised Pyongyang for protecting both interests very effectively, despite US economic pressure, provocations, blackmail and decades of military threats.
He also praised North Korea for maintaining the same course as Moscow and Pyongyang and for standing by his country against the United Nations.
