Iran has strongly condemned Israel’s confession to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the former head of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, calling it a “heinous crime.”

Iran’s permanent ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, made the remarks in a letter sent to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Tuesday.

He said that this is the first time that Zionist Israel has openly and shamelessly admitted responsibility for its heinous crime. After this confession, the international community’s responsibility to take effective measures against Zionist Israel’s terrorism and aggression has increased.

At the same time, it has also become clear that the defensive response that Iran gave against Zionist Israel on October 1 was legitimate and legally justified.

Amir Saeed Iravani also said in his letter that Zionist Israel remains the biggest threat to regional and international peace and security. The Iranian ambassador called on the UN Security Council to take punitive measures against the crimes that Zionist Israel is carrying out in violation of international law and destabilizing the Middle East region.

He said that if the UN Security Council continues to remain silent about these crimes, Zionist Israel will continue to encourage Israel to carry out such crimes.

Incidentally, last Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz admitted that Zionist Israel had killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
