Former President and Republican leader Donald Trump returned to the White House once again after winning a landslide victory over the Democrats in the November 5 election. However, his administration has friends as well as opponents.
By confronting them, Trump will have to show his superiority in the current world. The list of opponents includes Iran-China, as well as powerful Russia and North Korea. How will the newly elected US president handle them?
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke about this in Moscow on Thursday.
He said deterring China could be a top priority for the US under Donald Trump’s administration. However, the US administration sees Russia as a ‘present-day threat’.
In an interview given to television presenter Marina Kim, Lavrov said, “The task of bringing China under control began with the initiative of Joe Biden’s administration. I think it will continue to be a priority under Donald Trump’s administration. And Russia is always a threat. Washington does not want Russia to prove its powerful role or tarnish the West’s image.
The Russian Foreign Minister also said that the most important thing for the United States is their own image. In real life they do not care about the future of the people, especially the people of Ukraine.
“They are not worried about Ukraine, but they want to be faithful to their promises,” Lavrov said, noting that once they said Ukraine would have this government. But when someone opposes it, they say, ‘Russia! It is a big country. But it should be brought under control.
This is not about the future of the Ukrainian people, but about maintaining their own image, added Lavrov.
