The tough steps Trump is taking against China

US President-elect Donald Trump is nominating people known for his tough stance on China to his administration. Which indicates its tough stance towards Beijing.
Trump recently nominated former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to head the CIA and Army veteran Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense.
Florida Congressman Michael Waltz has also been named national security adviser. Florida Senator Marco Rubio, on the other hand, is likely to be nominated as Secretary of State.
Each of them views China as a major threat to US interests and supports a tough policy on China.
Trump has nominated Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the ‘Government Efficiency’ department.
However, Musk has significant business ties with China. In that case, he can play a big role in the China-US relationship.
In addition, former trade representative Robert Lighthizer may join Trump’s cabinet. He played a key role in imposing tariffs on Chinese goods during Trump’s first term. This time too he is planning to impose high tariff.
Experts say the Trump administration could create mixed reactions for Asian allies, particularly Japan and South Korea. But some Southeast Asian countries will doubtless remain ambivalent.
