In recent times, India and China have shown signs of withdrawing from the area of conflict. Now it is more obvious. Next week, the two countries will meet in a defense minister level meeting to improve bilateral relations.
In a report on Friday (November 15), Indian media NDTV gave this news.
It said that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will meet Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun. The first high-level talks were held last month, following the withdrawal of troops from the LAC by India and China at the military and government levels in several rounds last month. Both countries then agreed to return to the situation before April 2020.
This will be the first ministerial-level meeting since the two militaries disengaged in eastern Ladakh last month and India resumed patrolling in the Depsang region last week.
Dong, a former Chinese navy commander, was appointed as defense minister in December last year. Sources told NDTV that Rajnath Singh will meet Dong at the ASEAN summit in Laos from November 20.
The defense ministers of the two countries will meet after April 2023.
In May and June 2020, Delhi and Beijing undertook the reconstruction of broken bridges following clashes in the Galwan and Pangong Lake areas. At that time, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in military clashes between the two countries. Since then, both sides have been increasing their troop deployments.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping met in Russia last month. Apart from this, both the armies also exchanged sweets on Diwali this year.
