The Israeli army claimed that a Hamas commander named Wasem Hazem was killed in Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
In a statement on Friday, the occupation army said its forces had targeted a vehicle in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin. Wasem Hazem, the leader of the Hamas network there, was killed.
It also said that two other Palestinians, Misbah al-Masharqa and Arafat Amr, were killed in the attack by the Israeli forces. They were also in that car.
Meanwhile, there was no immediate comment from Hamas regarding the Israeli claim.
On Friday, the Israeli army continued its military operations in the city of Jenin and refugee camps in the north West Bank for the third day in a row.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army launched its biggest military operation since 2002 in the Al Fara refugee camp near Tubas, along with Tulkarem and Jenin, according to Palestinian figures. 18 Palestinians were killed.
Tensions have soared over the operation across the occupied West Bank amid brutal Israeli incursions into the besieged Gaza Strip. Israeli forces have killed 40,602 Palestinians since October 7 last year. Most of them are women and children.
In a landmark opinion on July 19, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land illegal and demanded the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
