Iran has warned Israel of unforeseen consequences if it starts a new military operation in Lebanon.

On Saturday (July 27), Israeli forces launched airstrikes against the positions of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah after a rocket attack on the Gholam Plateau area occupied by Israel.

At least 12 teenagers between the ages of 10 and 20 were killed in a rocket attack on a soccer field in the Golan Heights on Saturday, Reuters reported. Israel blamed Hezbollah for the attack. However, Hizbullah has denied this allegation.

Israel said on Sunday that the Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes targeting Hezbollah weapons depots and military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. However, the extent of damage or casualties in the attack is not known.

Iran responded strongly to Israel’s airstrikes in Lebanon. The country’s foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said on Sunday that any foolish move by the Jewish regime could widen the scope of instability, insecurity and war in the region. He also warned Israel of unforeseen consequences.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Lebanon’s armed group Hezbollah to respond strongly to the rocket attack on the Golan Heights. Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that Israel will not delay in responding to this attack. Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for this.

In October of last year, Israeli forces began to carry out brutal attacks on Gaza. In response to this, the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah attacked areas adjacent to the border with Israel, and Tel Aviv also retaliated. Since then, both sides have been counter-attacking. Analysts fear that a new attack on the Golan Heights will increase tensions anew.
