Israeli army officer killed in Hezbollah drone attack

An Israeli army officer who was wounded in a drone attack by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah died on Sunday.

His name is Major Dor Zimmel (27). He was serving in the Israeli army as a reservist.

On April 17, a missile and drone attack took place in the Arab al-Aramshe area on the northern border of Israel. Apart from Dor Zimel, 13 army personnel and 4 civilians were injured in that attack. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack.

Major Dr. Zimel was the Deputy Company Commander of the Etzioni Brigade of the Israeli Army. He was admitted to a hospital in Naharia city with injuries.

The hospital authorities said that Gimel suffered a severe brain injury. His condition was critical. Doctors declared him dead on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in response to the attack on April 17, Israel launched an air strike targeting Hezbollah’s air defense system in Baalbek city in northeastern Lebanon.

In addition, Israeli warplanes attacked two buildings in southern Lebanon on Sunday. Israel claims that Hezbollah is associated with that building.

On October 7, Israel was attacked by the Palestinian independence group Hamas. Since that day, Israel has been indiscriminately attacking the Palestinian Gaza Strip. At this time, Israel and Hezbollah are engaged in regular counter-attacks on the Israel-Lebanon border.
