A historic ceasefire is underway in Gaza. In the meantime, Israeli forces are forcibly evicting Palestinians from their homes as part of a military operation in the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Jenin Mayor Mohammed Jarrar made the allegation on Wednesday, according to a report by the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

According to the report, Mayor Jarrar said, “The Israeli army is carrying out the eviction of Palestinians from several neighborhoods in the Jenin refugee camp.”

“These evicted Palestinians have been transferred to the western part of the refugee camp and we are trying to provide shelter for them,” the mayor added.

Mayor Mohammed Jarrar warned of such “crimes” by Israeli forces in the Jenin refugee camp. At the same time, he alleged that the entire residential area of the camp is being demolished.

He said, “The Israeli army is bringing heavy equipment into the camp and destroying infrastructure and roads.”

The mayor also complained, “The occupying Israeli forces have surrounded the refugee camp and are detaining doctors, residents and patients here. Jenin has now become a ghost town where no one can move.”

At least 10 Palestinians have been killed and 40 injured in the Israeli army’s operation in Jenin, which began on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Israeli military said that the operation, called “Iron Wall,” will continue for several days.

Tensions are rising across the West Bank due to the occupation forces’ announcement and campaign. Because Israel has carried out a “genocidal aggression” in the Gaza Strip.

More than 47,000 Palestinians have been killed in the invasion that began on October 8, 2023, so far, most of them women and children. More than 110,700 people have been injured.

A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement came into effect in Gaza on January 19, ending a 15-month-long offensive. It temporarily suspended Israel’s attacks on Gaza.

However, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that 870 Palestinians were killed and more than 6,700 injured in Israeli military attacks on the West Bank.

In July last year, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian land illegal and ordered the withdrawal of all Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

However, the situation is becoming increasingly complicated due to Israel’s duplicity and the intervention of the international community has become imperative.
