Three years after coming to power, the Taliban government is on the way to a new polarization in international politics. The Taliban has achieved several notable diplomatic successes this year, defying US and Western sanctions.

As a result, Kyrgyzstan removed the Taliban from the list of banned terrorist groups. Former Soviet Union Kyrgyzstan was considered an ally of the United States. But in the embassies of Russia and China, Kyrgyzstan recognized the Taliban as a ‘one-of-a-kind’.

However, the government of Kyrgyzstan has not yet opened its mouth about removing the Taliban from the terrorist list. However, the Taliban’s foreign ministry declared the decision a success in their regional diplomacy.

In a statement on Thursday, Afghanistan’s foreign ministry said, “In line with other countries’ actions, Kyrgyzstan’s move marks the beginning of a growing political recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan at both the regional and international levels.” It will remove any obstacles against strengthening bilateral relations between Afghanistan Islamic Emirate and other countries.’

Earlier, in December last year, Kazakhstan removed the name of the Taliban from the terrorist list. Russia, on the other hand, said in May that it was considering recognizing the Taliban government. Besides, China has been working closely with the Taliban government since the beginning.

So far no country has officially recognized the Taliban. But more than a dozen countries, including six of Afghanistan’s neighbors, have allowed Taliban diplomats to take over Afghan embassies or consulates. Among them, China in January, followed by Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates last month, all three countries received accredited Taliban envoys.

Meanwhile, Russia sees Kyrgyzstan’s decision to remove the Taliban from the terrorist list as positive. Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Peskov, said that this is an important step in the development of bilateral relations with neighboring countries.
