After Gaza, Israeli forces are continuing to attack Lebanon one after another. The death toll is increasing. Lebanon’s health ministry said the death toll in Israel’s airstrikes targeting Hezbollah has exceeded 700. Many people were also injured.
According to Al Jazeera’s report on Friday, 92 people were killed in one day in the latest attack by Israel. More than 150 people were injured.
More than 500,000 people have been displaced by Israel’s massive bombing campaign across Lebanon. Lebanon’s foreign minister said more than 30,000 people had been displaced in the three days until Friday.
Cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has been ongoing for a year in the context of the Gaza war. Many people have been killed. Most of them are Hezbollah fighters. The head of Hezbollah’s drone unit, Mohammad Suroor, was killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut, southern Lebanon, on Thursday. The Israeli army reported this news.
Iran-backed Hezbollah also confirmed the death of 51-year-old Mohammad Suru in a statement.
Earlier, the Israeli army said in a statement that its warplanes targeted Surur. He was killed by it. In addition, millions of people have already been displaced by Israel’s brutal attacks.
Hezbollah has said it is carrying out operations in support of Hamas and will not stop until a ceasefire in Gaza is confirmed. Both organizations are supported by Iran.
Recently, the government of Israel announced that it would turn its attention from Gaza to the northern part of the country. After that, Israel shook the base of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group by exploding pagers and walkie-talkies. The incident was seen as a prelude to a major attack on Hezbollah. In the meantime, Israeli forces started indiscriminate attacks across Lebanon from last Monday. Most of the attacks took place in southern areas dominated by Hezbollah.
According to Lebanese media, the first wave of Israeli airstrikes began at 6:30 a.m. local time on Monday. Throughout the day, Israel targeted dozens of towns, villages and open spaces in southern Lebanon’s Sidon, Marjeun, Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil, Jejjin and Zahrani districts and Jahleh, Baalbek and Harmal districts in the eastern Bekaa Valley. More than 700 people have been killed so far in the attack by the occupying country. Thousands of people were injured. Among them, 492 people were killed on Monday.
As a result of Israel and Hezbollah’s retaliatory attacks, there is a fear of conflict spreading throughout the Middle East. Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchai has warned that Iran will not remain silent in response to Israel’s crime. In such a situation, when 12 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, and France proposed a 21-day ceasefire with Hezbollah, Israel rejected it.
Instead, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his military to continue attacking Lebanon with full force. But after a day, he again spoke in favor of accepting the proposal.
According to the report of the Israeli media Times of Israel, Netanyahu said late Thursday night local time in the United States that he agrees with the temporary ceasefire proposed by the United States.
