Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a new proposal by the United States to end the war in the besieged Gaza Strip. Therefore, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on Hamas to accept this ceasefire proposal. He gave this information after a meeting with Israeli officials including Netanyahu on Monday.
Blinken told reporters in Israel’s capital Tel Aviv that he had a very constructive meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu today. There he confirmed to me that Israel had accepted this bridging offer. He also supports it.
He said, now it is the responsibility of Hamas to do the same. Then all the parties have to sit together with the help of mediators. The process must be completed to reach a clear understanding on how they will implement the commitments made under this agreement.
Blinken has visited the Middle East nine times since the war in Gaza began last October. His visit to Israel came days after the United States presented a revised proposal aimed at ending the rift between Hamas and Israel.
However, Palestinian independence organizations complain that the US is giving Israel time to carry out more genocide. The US Secretary of State arrived in Tel Aviv on Monday on a visit to the Middle East. He met with Israeli President Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top officials.
