Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel on October 1. In response to this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a counter-attack on the country.
The Prime Minister of Israel announced this in an address to the nation on Saturday.
Netanyahu said that Iran has recently launched a missile attack on Israel, no other country in the world will tolerate such an attack on their territory and people, neither will Israel.
He said, protecting our territory and citizens is not only our right, but it is also Israel’s responsibility. Israel will definitely fulfill that responsibility.
Israel’s ground forces launched an operation in southern Lebanon on September 30 to suppress the Iranian-backed armed Islamic group Hezbollah. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the elite wing of Iran’s army, started firing ballistic missiles one after another at various Israeli installations within 24 hours of the start of the campaign. IRGC fired about 200 missiles from the evening of that day till the morning of October 2.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were able to destroy most of the missiles before they hit the target through the missile defense system, but since the incident there have been rumors that Israel may attack Iran, but until now Jerusalem has not officially spoken about it. The Prime Minister of Israel clarified his position on this issue for the first time in his speech on Saturday.
