Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a luxury car to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his visit to Pyongyang. The car is a Russian-made Auras Limousine. Also on the gift list were a tea set and an admiral’s dagger.
Reuters reported that Putin was greeted by hundreds of cheering people in the North Korean capital on Wednesday. A grand ceremony was arranged for him.
In September last year, Kim Jong-un visited Russia’s eastern region. Then Putin showed him a black Auras car. The car was fitted with metal sheeting, which could prevent bullets. Kim sat next to Putin in the car and is believed to have enjoyed the ride.
Vladimir Putin also received a gift in return. Many paintings, in which he was originally painted. He also received a bust of himself from Kim Jong-un. Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov told the Russian news agency Tass this information.
According to a report in Car magazine, the production of Auras cars will start from 2018. Vladimir Putin wanted to build a luxury car in Russia. Auras is the result of that desire. Putin has been using an Auras Senate car since 2018. And the sale of Auras to common people started from 2021.
A Russian official said last month that Russia will start manufacturing the Auras luxury car at a former Toyota factory this year. Toyota’s factory is located in St. Petersburg.
According to Reuters, the Russian president first gifted an Auras car to Kim Jong-un in February this year. This was confirmed by both countries. This means that Kim Jong-un now has at least two Auras in his garage.
It is believed that Kim has a huge interest in cars. He has a large number of foreign luxury cars in his own collection.
Kim was spotted in a Maybach limousine. He has also been seen riding in several Mercedes, a Rolls-Royce Phantom and a Lexus sports utility vehicle.
