Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to hold an emergency meeting with ministers to prepare for a possible attack amid threats of Iranian retaliation.

The region and the United States are on high alert after Tehran threatened to retaliate after an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on April 1.

US officials told CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, that ‘a major attack on Israel could happen very soon.’

According to US intelligence, this attack can happen within a couple of days. The Jewish state was on high alert on Friday for fear of an attack.

Some US officials believe that Iran could use 100 drones and dozens of missiles in the attack. And in the fear of such a big attack from Iran, the Prime Minister of occupying Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has called an emergency meeting with the ministers.

Citing US officials, CBS News reported that if Iran attacks with 100 drones and dozens of missiles, it will be “challenging” for Israel to stop it.

According to the BBC, Netanyahu will meet with the wartime cabinet, including Defense Minister Yohav Galant, to decide what to do after a possible attack by Iran. Besides, he will also discuss with opposition party leader Benny Gantz.
