Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently presented President Donald Trump with a gold pager (communication device) during his recent visit to the United States.
Netanyahu arrived in Washington on the afternoon of February 2. Two days later, he met with Trump on Tuesday. During the meeting, Netanyahu presented Trump with a gold pager.
The gift given by the Israeli Prime Minister reads, “To our best friend and best ally, President Donald J. Trump.”
Regarding the gift, Netanyahu’s office said that the gold pager represents a turning point in the war.
On September 17, 2024, Israel carried out a deadly operation against the Lebanese political and armed group Hezbollah. In that operation, they exploded thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah members. The next day, a walkie-talkie carrying Hezbollah members was also exploded. At least 37 people were killed and nearly 3,000 people were injured in these explosions.
As a souvenir of that operation, Netanyahu gifted his close ally Donald Trump a gold pager. Trump gave him a gift in return. Trump gifted Netanyahu a photo of him and Netanyahu together.
The photo also has Trump’s autograph. Trump wrote above the autograph, “Great Leader Bibi (Netanyahu).” And that photo was posted by Netanyahu’s son on his Instagram.
Meanwhile, Trump held a joint press conference after meeting with Netanyahu on February 4. At that press conference, he announced his surprising plan for the United States to occupy the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
However, Trump’s announcement has generated strong reactions. Arab countries, including Palestine, have strongly protested Trump’s plan. Experts say that the implementation of Trump’s plan will amount to ethnic cleansing and violate international law.
