Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has escalated tensions with Iran over Palestinian Gaza.
He said this at a press conference with the German Foreign Minister in Berlin on Tuesday (April 16).
Ayman Safadi said the international community should prevent Israel’s prime minister from diverting his attention from Gaza by escalating the conflict with Iran.
Jordan’s foreign minister said Iran had responded to the attack on its consulate and declared that it “does not want to further escalate tensions”.
He said, we are against increasing tension. Netanyahu wants to turn his attention away from Gaza and focus on his conflict with Iran.
Iran launched more than three hundred drone and missile attacks on Israel last Saturday (April 13). Jordan tried to prevent them from reaching Israel.
According to reports, Jordan allowed Israeli warplanes to enter its airspace to shoot down missiles fired from Iran. Fighters from the two countries were also reportedly coordinated by the US military.
Meanwhile, there was a massive protest against the government in Jordan on Tuesday for supporting Tel Aviv in the attack of Iran on Israel. However, the Jordanian government claimed in a statement that this initiative was taken for self-defense. “They were a threat to our people and populated areas,” the statement said.
