New tension between India and China over Arunachal Pradesh

Recently a mountain peak in Arunachal Pradesh was named after the late Dalai Lama. The climbers of Nimas or National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports have climbed this peak of 20 thousand 942 feet for the first time.
The Indian Ministry of Defense and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s government have recognized the naming of the mountaineers. Strong objection has been raised by China. Due to this, there is a fear that India’s diplomatic relations with China may start a new tension.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian responded, “Zhangnan (Arunachal) is part of China.” ‘
However, India claims that China has named Arunachal Pradesh as Jangnan, claiming it as its own territory.
In April this year, China announced the new names of 30 more districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, in 2017, 2021 and 2023, China named different areas of Arunachal as their own three times.
In April, India’s foreign minister S Jaishankar said, ‘If I change the name of your house, does it become mine? Does ownership change? doesn’t go Similarly, even if the name of Arunachal Pradesh is changed, this state will never become China.
India has been calling China’s initiatives ‘numb and unnecessary’ every time, Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will remain an integral part of India.
Incidentally, the 1st Dalai Lama was born in 1682 AD in Tawang area. He is believed to have made a special contribution to the development of the Monpa community in Arunachal region. More recently, China has also opposed the current Dalai Lama’s 14th visit to the Tawang Monastery built in his memory.
