183 Palestinians released in exchange for three Israelis

183 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons were released on Saturday. Israel released them in accordance with the terms of the ceasefire agreement. Al Jazeera reports

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office confirmed the release of 183 in a new statement.

The statement said that 18 of these 183 Palestinian prisoners were serving life sentences. 54 were sentenced to long terms. The remaining 11 were arrested after the war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023.

It was previously said that 90 prisoners would be released from Israeli prisons on Saturday. This number was later increased.

Amani Sarahneh, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, said that the information has been updated. Israel will release 183 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has been in effect since January 19.
