North Korean leader Kim Jong Un says now is the time to prepare for war more than ever. He said this while visiting the country’s main military university.

Parliamentary elections were held in rival South Korea on Wednesday, the day of his comments. The ruling party suffered a major defeat. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported the news on Thursday.

Citing the uncertain and unstable military and political situation, the North Korean leader told the Kim Jong Il University of Military and Politics that now is the time to prepare for war more thoroughly than ever.

North Korea has escalated its accusations against South Korea and its ally the United States in recent months. The country alleges military tensions are being fueled by increasing war tactics and military exercises.

In March, Kim ordered a boost to war preparations after visiting a major military base in the west of his country.

North Korea needs to prepare more firmly and thoroughly for a war where there is no room for failure but victory, Kim said, not just for a potential war.
