Pager attack, Israel’s planned war or mental attack?

Occupying Israel has recently been increasing pressure on Hezbollah by exploding pagers and wakitki on the Lebanon-Israel border. Analysts believe that the purpose of this move by Israel is to force Hezbollah to withdraw from the border and cancel the demand to stop attacks on the border before the end of the war in Gaza.
Hezbollah had been making the claim amid ongoing negotiations through Western and Lebanese mediators.
According to the report of the Ministry of Health of Lebanon, 32 people were killed and 3 thousand 250 injured as a result of pager and walkie-talkie explosions in Lebanon last Tuesday and Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government may aim to avoid an all-out war with Hezbollah by carrying out such a large explosion.
According to former CIA officer Mark Polimeropoulos, Israel planned the operation not as a ‘war preparation’, but to send a strong message to Hezbollah. With this ‘war avoidance’ strategy, Israel wants to imply that a larger-scale war would be disastrous for Hezbollah.
Last Tuesday, the Israeli security cabinet announced that more targets had been set in the Gaza war. This includes plans to reduce Hezbollah’s presence on the Lebanese border.
After the war in 2006, a UN-brokered deal was signed to withdraw Hezbollah forces north of the Litani River in Lebanon, which is now under review.
Meanwhile, the head of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, in a televised speech on Thursday, commented that Israel’s attack was a “declaration of war” by Israel. He also promised to take revenge.
He said, you can call the mass killings of Tuesday and Wednesday war crimes, declaration of war, anything. The enemy has crossed all ‘red lines’ and violated all laws by this attack. It is a horrific terrorist attack, genocide and ethnic cleansing campaign.
At the same time, Nasrallah also warned that “the attacks on the Israeli border from Lebanon will not stop until the aggression in Gaza is stopped.”
Meanwhile, analysts say Israel is trying to gain a strategic advantage by attacking Hezbollah’s communications network. But this is probably not quite the start of the war. It is seen as a psychological attack to demoralize Hezbollah. Source: South China Morning Post
