Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel’s strike on Iran was “precise and powerful” and that Israel achieved all its goals.
He made the remarks during an event in Jerusalem on Sunday.
Netanyahu said that the latest strike targeted Iran’s defense capabilities and missile production facilities.
“We promised that we would respond to Iran’s attacks and we struck on Saturday,” the Israeli prime minister said at the event in Jerusalem. The strike targeted Iran’s defense capabilities and missile production.
The Israeli air force carried out strikes early Saturday night targeting strategic Iranian military sites. Israel claimed that Iran’s drone and ballistic missile production and launch centers and air defense batteries were located there.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called the attack on Iran “precise, lethal and surprising.” He threatened that it would send a clear message to the adversary that “Israel’s long arm is capable of hitting anyone.”
The Israeli military said the attack was part of a broader Israeli effort to weaken Hezbollah and Hamas, which are considered Iranian proxies.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Tehran would immediately decide how to respond to the Israeli attack.
