Turkish diplomatic sources said members of Hamas’ political bureau often visit Turkey, but claims that the group has permanently relocated its office to Turkey are “false”.
On Sunday, Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported that Hamas had left Doha for Turkey after the Qatari government asked them to leave the country.
In this regard, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said last week that Qatar has asked Hamas members to leave the country for not signing the ceasefire and hostage agreements.
Several media also claimed that the Qatari government took this step due to Hamas’s reluctance to negotiate a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza.
Qatar has asked Hamas leaders to leave the country for not agreeing to a ceasefire. However, it was not asked to close the Hamas office in Doha. Earlier this month, the Qatari government denied the matter.
Middle East Eye reports that Hamas has never officially established a headquarters in Istanbul.
