China’s People’s Liberation Army (PAL) encamped 60 kilometers inside the Seven Sisters. The incident took place in Kapapu area of Anjao district in the important Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. India said Chinese troops entered the district and stayed there for a few days before leaving. Arunachal’s local media NewsFi has confirmed this information.

According to a report by The Donlitpost, deep forest fires in the Kapapu area, Chinese names painted on rocks and pictures of Chinese food products indicate that Chinese troops entered the area about a week ago.

In the picture, the year 2024 is written in English on the stone. These tactics are known to be used by the Chinese army after incursions as part of its claim to Indian territory.

An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp is located at Kapapu near the Hadigra Pass on the McMahon Line that divides the two countries, NewsFie reported. And Chaglagam, the nearest administrative area of Anjao district, is about 90 km from the McMahon Line. Besides, the location of Glaitakaru pass in the hilly area is about 80 km away from Chaglagam.

After this incident, India presented their statement. According to locals, Chinese troops entered Kapapu district and stayed there for a few days before leaving, Arunachal State Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul said.

A senior Indian army officer, who did not want to be identified, denied infiltration, saying such incidents are often unintentional. It is false that PLA troops have penetrated within 60 km of Indian territory. This happens because the boundaries here are not properly marked. The soldiers of the two sides, while patrolling, inadvertently entered each other’s territory. They do not know when they are in enemy territory.

Earlier, in August 2022, PLA troops reportedly supervised their infrastructure construction activities near Hadigra Lake. On August 11 of the same year, an LRP patrol team of the Chinese military observed the construction work in the area less than 30 km from Chaglagam. The Chinese military is conducting the construction of a second cluster of at least 60 buildings in Arunachal Pradesh in 2021.
