Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is making a much-awaited visit to Türkiye in September. Sisi is scheduled to meet Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his visit to Turkey on September 4. Al Sabah reported this information on Saturday, citing an Egyptian official in Ankara.

According to the report, the two heads of state will discuss the Gaza war and bilateral relations. Apart from this, high level strategic issues are also expected to be involved.

Erdogan and al-Sisi will discuss joint steps to end Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza. Facilitating a cease-fire and bringing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to justice is also being emphasized.

Not only that, Turkey and Egypt will continue joint efforts for lasting stability and peace in regional conflict areas such as Libya, Sudan and Somalia.

In 2013, army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi led the ouster of democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi and suspended the Egyptian constitution.

Since then, Egypt-Türkiye relations have deteriorated significantly. But the two sides had to sit at the same table for their own interests in various regional issues including the Gaza issue. Sisi’s visit to Turkey is seen as a major step forward in 12 years of tense relations.
