Syrian President’s Media Adviser Dies in Car Accident

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s media adviser, Luna al-Shibal, has finally died after being seriously injured in a car accident. The President’s Office confirmed his death on Friday (July 5). Al-Arabia reported this information.

According to a statement from the President’s Office, Luna Al Shibal, adviser to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, died on Friday after being injured in a car accident. President Bashar al-Assad expressed deep grief and sorrow over his death.

He has served as political and media director for President Al Assad for the past several years. He also served as a special adviser to the president.

The 48-year-old woman left journalism at Al Jazeera, a popular Qatari newspaper, to join Bashar al-Assad as a media adviser. He became an adviser to the Assad government when the 2011 crackdown on peaceful protesters in the capital Damascus erupted into civil war.
