Thailand’s foreign minister resigns ‘unexpectedly’

Thailand’s Foreign Minister Parnpri Bahiddha-Nukara has resigned. Thai Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin accepted her resignation on Sunday (April 28).

This information has been given in a report of the news agency Reuters.

Parnpri Bahiddha-Nukara took such a decision after losing the post of Deputy Prime Minister in the cabinet reshuffle recently. His resignation surprised many in Thailand. Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai described Parnpri’s resignation as “unexpected”.

Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke said Parnpri’s resignation will not affect foreign affairs. Because, the permanent secretary of the ministry and other officials can continue to work in his place.

Parnpri Bahiddha-Nukara has not yet opened his mouth about the resignation. However, his resignation letter was published by a local media.

He wrote there that he believed he was not removed from the post of Deputy Prime Minister for past activities. Because, he has performed his duties well and helped to brighten the image of Thailand in the international arena.

Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn approved the new cabinet on Sunday. Parnpri’s name is listed only as Foreign Minister in the Royal Proclamation. Apart from this, six more people have been given new ministries. And four people have been dropped from the cabinet.
