Recently, about 130 soldiers of the country wrote a letter refusing to perform their duties in the Israeli army with a condition. The conflict between Netanyahu’s cabinet and those army members has increased and it has reached an extreme level.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some members of his cabinet have sharply criticized the 130 soldiers. who have written letters refusing to serve until a prisoner exchange agreement is reached with Hamas.
Israeli media outlet Haaretz reported that during a cabinet meeting on Sunday night, Netanyahu called for the issue to be “sternly dealt with through force and law”. He also commented that these soldiers have lost their ‘national spirit’ at this time.
The Yemen Press Agency reports that the issue comes at a time when the role of members of Netanyahu’s extremist cabinet is being highlighted. Israeli soldiers have accused those who are obstructing the release of prisoners and an agreement to stop aggression and genocide against Palestinians.
In this regard, Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev said in a cabinet meeting, “If this is a rebellion, these soldiers should be sent to prison.”
On the other hand, Israeli War Minister Yoav Galant claimed that the numbers of soldiers presented in the media were not realistic and that the Israeli army took strict action against any sign of disobedience.
Meanwhile, representatives of the occupying Israeli forces confirmed at the meeting that they had not received any of the messages sent to the media.
Earlier, in a letter on October 9, 130 members of the Israeli military warned that they would not fulfill their military duties if the Israeli government failed to reach a cease-fire agreement with Hamas in Gaza and arrange for a prisoner exchange.
The letter was published in Israel’s Haaretz newspaper. Quoting from the letter, the Hebrew language media reported that these soldiers who refused to perform their duties came from different divisions of the Israeli army.
