The Taliban admitted to the detention of two American citizens

The Taliban government announced the detention of two US citizens for disobeying the law. At the same time, it has been warned that the country’s laws must be followed when taking a visa.

After almost two decades, the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in 2021. After that, the Taliban government came under criticism by issuing one rule after another. A year after the seizure of power, many foreign nationals were also detained for disobeying their own laws.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid admitted the detention of foreigners for the first time on Sunday (March 31). Among them are two US citizens.

In an interview given to a local private television, Zabihullah said that the matter has been informed to the United States. However, it was not said that any other country’s nationals are being detained with them. However, it is also cautioned that one must comply with the country’s laws when obtaining a visa.

Meanwhile, US authorities have identified one. The man, Rayah Corbett, was arrested in August 2022. The US State Department demanded the immediate release of the prisoners.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan has accused the US of illegally violating its airspace. Zabihullah alleged that the US troops patrolled the Afghan territory illegally with drones. US drones are also claimed to have entered their territory from neighboring countries. The Biden administration was even urged to take the issue seriously.
