At least seven people have died as Tropical Storm Yagi battered the Southeast Asian country of the Philippines. In addition, the impact of the storm caused heavy rains in the country’s capital Manila and nearby provinces. Flash floods and landslides have also occurred as a result of rainfall.

On Monday (Sept. 2), disaster management chief Reilly Bernardo of Antipolo, a city east of Manila, said three people were killed after two houses collapsed in a landslide in a hilly area of ​​the city. Among them were two school students and a 27-year-old pregnant woman.

He said, it is a landslide prone area. So we have been encouraging people to move to other areas for a long time.

Bernardo also said that four more people drowned in the same province of Rizal. Apart from this, some houses were submerged in the flood.

An average of 20 tropical storms hit the Philippines annually. Most of them are typhoons. But most of the people were killed in the landslides caused by the storm.

Heavy rains flooded roads and houses in different parts of the country on Monday. As a result, government activities and classes have been suspended.

On this day, typhoon Yagi hit the Philippines with a speed of 85 km. The storm is now moving northwest of Luzon, the country’s largest and most populous island.

Gloria Nicholas, a resident of Rizal province, said the water was pouring down here. And on the other side of our road, the water rose up to the roof of the house. Some people were trapped.
