The United States has imposed sanctions on the Israeli organization Sav-9 for attacking humanitarian aid convoys to Gaza. US officials said the ban was issued on Friday. Al Jazeera reported in a report that the Israeli organization Sav-9 has ties to the reserve forces of the Israeli military and Jewish settlers in the West Bank. They are mainly involved in activities such as blocking, damaging and harassing aid shipments to Gaza.
Israel’s military invasion of Gaza has been going on for more than eight months. Amid this massive war, many people in the valley are facing dire shortages of food, water and medical supplies. The relief fleet was carrying humanitarian aid for them. In the meantime, the Israeli organization Sav-9 attacked the Gaza relief convoy. For this, the United States has imposed sanctions on the Israeli organization. US officials said this.
The US State Department said in a statement on Friday that “humanitarian assistance to the territory is critical to prevent the humanitarian crisis in Gaza from worsening and to reduce the risk of famine.”
The statement also said, “The Israeli government is fully responsible for ensuring the safety of humanitarian aid vehicles delivered to Gaza through the border between Israel and the West Bank.” The United States will not tolerate sabotage and violence targeting this vital humanitarian aid. Then US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said, “It is critical to send humanitarian assistance to prevent the risk of famine and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.”
Miller said in a statement that the United States will hold accountable those groups that block the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and called on the Israeli government to do the same. Israel’s military invasion of Gaza has been going on for more than eight months. Amid this massive war, many people in the valley are facing dire shortages of food, water and medical supplies. Meanwhile, this Israeli organization burned two relief vehicles after looting aid near Hebron in the West Bank on May 13. However, Israel has been denying such allegations.
