Hamas welcomed Erdogan in a written statement ahead of a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) parliamentary group in Ankara on Wednesday.

Hamas will be indebted to Tusk for Erdoğan’s dignified position in the struggle for the freedom of the Palestinian people and the liberation of their homeland, the statement said. This contribution is valued by the people of their country. We are proud to have him on the current state of Palestine.

The Hamas statement also said that the Palestinian people will remember Erdoğan’s bold statement and fraternal stance against the Israeli occupation. The Palestinian people will never forget his words.

Earlier, Turkish President Erdogan said in a press conference in Ankara after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday that Israel is trying to provoke regional conflict. The deadly attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria was part of their plan.

As long as Israel’s “cruelty and genocide” in Gaza continues, new regional tensions will continue to rise, he said.

Criticizing the West for condemning Iran’s attack on Israel, Erdogan said that when Israel attacked the Iranian embassy in Syria, the West was silent on the matter.
