Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called and congratulated the new US President Donald Trump. In the phone call, the Saudi Crown Prince told Trump that Saudi Arabia would greatly increase its investment in the United States in the future.

The British media outlet BBC reported this information in a report on Thursday (January 23).

The Saudi government said that Trump and Mohammed bin Salman spoke on the phone on Thursday. In the phone call, Mohammed bin Salman told Trump that Saudi Arabia would greatly increase its investment in the United States in the coming days. He also talked about increasing trade.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent a congratulatory message to Trump on behalf of the Saudi king on his second term as president.

The crown prince said that his country wants to invest $600 billion in the United States in the next four years (Trump’s term).

Incidentally, Trump went to Saudi Arabia on his first foreign trip in 2017 after becoming president for the first time. At that time, he identified Saudi Arabia as an important energy and security partner for his country.

In 2019, there was an attack in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia blamed Iran for the attack. The attack cut Saudi Arabia’s crude oil output by half. The Saudi crown prince accused Trump of failing to respond strongly to the incident, which has soured relations between Washington and Riyadh.

Despite this, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner’s equity firm has received a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia.
