The United States is involved in wars in some way or another in every corner of the world. The United States regularly engages in conflicts with countries like China, Russia, and North Korea, even with the support of its allies. And whenever this conflict begins, the nuclear weapons in the arsenals of these countries come into discussion.
The topic of nuclear bombs is also repeatedly coming up in the ongoing Ukraine war. Where the United States is involved in a conflict with Russia on behalf of its ally Ukraine. In which conflict, there is a hint of the United States getting involved in a conflict with North Korea as well by supporting Russia. In this situation, what will happen if this war turns into a nuclear war? Many are curious about what exactly will happen if the United States drops nuclear bombs on North Korea, Russia, or China.
And in this regard, nuclear technology professor and historian Alex Wellerstein showed a map to the US-based magazine ‘Newsweek’. His map shows what would happen if a nuclear bomb were dropped on the capitals of North Korea, Russia, and China.
He shows the B-83, the largest nuclear weapon in the US arsenal, which can vaporize anything within a radius of 1.59 square miles. It can also destroy buildings within 67.7 square miles. It can incinerate everything within 211 square miles. And the impact of this nuclear bomb can be felt across 535 square miles.
But how would this explosion affect the capitals of North Korea, Russia, and China?
Pyongyang, North Korea
According to Newsweek, if this nuclear bomb were to explode in Pyongyang, an estimated 13.27 million people would die. And more than 11 million would be injured. And that would be within 24 hours of the bomb being dropped. Because it would fall within this explosion range.
Moscow, Russia
If this attack were to happen in Moscow, an average of 102.2 million people would be within the range of a simulated explosion (1 psi) within 24 hours. Of these, more than 13.7 million would die. The remaining 37.4 million would be injured.
Beijing, China
An estimated 15.4 million people would die in Beijing if this nuclear attack were carried out. Because, an average of 90 million people would be within the range of a simulated explosion (1 psi) within 24 hours. Of these, 23.3 million would be injured.
In other words, the impact of a nuclear bomb is clear from these statistics. Therefore, no matter how much threat or attack each other, no one would want to choose nuclear weapons. Because that would be a terrible consequence for human civilization.
