The upcoming US high-level delegation will focus Washington on supporting Bangladesh’s economic growth, financial stability and development needs. The US State Department said this.

Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State for the US Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, will visit India and Bangladesh from September 10 to 16, according to a media note from the US State Department spokesperson’s office on Tuesday.

It said Lu will join an inter-agency delegation to meet with Bangladesh’s interim government in Dhaka. The delegation will include representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID and the Office of the US Trade Representative.

During his stay in Dhaka, Professor Dr. Lu’s chief advisor. Muhammad Yunus, Advisor on Foreign Affairs. Touhid Hossain is scheduled to meet with various members of the civil society.

This is going to be the first such visit from the United States after the formation of the interim government of Bangladesh on August 8.

During the visit, Assistant Secretary Lu will reiterate the United States’ commitment to supporting the economic growth of its partners and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region, the State Department said.

In India, she will highlight US-India cooperation on development, security and women’s economic empowerment at the India Ideas Summit organized by the US-India Business Council. Besides, he will co-chair the 8th US-India 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue with US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Jedidiah P. Royal and officials from the Indian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense. The dialogue will focus on enhancing the US-India bilateral partnership and expanding cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
