Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that his country will help the Palestinians. Will not recognize Israel.
Anwar Ibrahim made this comment at a press conference of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in the Latin American country of Peru on Friday.
Malaysia has always maintained diplomatic distance with Israel. The Prime Minister of Malaysia was asked if his government wants to change this policy. In response, he reiterated his government’s previous position on Israel and Palestine.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia said that Malaysia is the only country to raise questions about Israel’s increasing violence against the Palestinians at this year’s APEC conference.
Anwar Ibrahim said, “If the rights of a nation are denied, how can we talk about economics and free trade?” It is a matter of justice. Malaysia will continue to support the Palestinians wherever needed.
