EU foreign chief calls for sanctions against Israel

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called on the country to stop Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon. He called for sanctions against Israel for war crimes.
The top European diplomat also criticized the EU bloc’s approach to Israel. According to him, the EU has so far shielded the Israeli regime from suffering meaningful consequences.
Israel has violated international law in Gaza and Lebanon. For this reason, the import ban on Israel and political dialogue with the country’s government should be suspended. He made such a proposal. According to him, the bloc’s approach needs to change.
The European Union’s foreign policy chief also said the attack on healthcare workers was a serious violation of international humanitarian law. Protection of medical personnel in conflict zones is non-negotiable. Borrell also strongly condemned the killing of 12 paramedics in an Israeli attack near EU Baalbek.
After his protest, the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council will discuss Borrell’s proposal next week.
It should be noted that since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have killed 43,730 Palestinians in Gaza. Most of them are women and children. Also more than 100,000 people were injured in the country. Apart from this, many people are missing and trapped under the rubble.
