
20 people died in boat sinking in Afghanistan

At least 20 people, including children, have died after a boat capsized in Afghanistan. The accident occurred while crossing the river in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Saturday. Aljazeera news.
The head of the information department of Nangarhar province, Quraishi Badlun, said in an interview that the boat with passengers sank while crossing the river in Basaul area of Momand Dara district of the province on Saturday morning. There were 25 passengers in the boat. Five of them managed to swim to the shore. All these five people were rescued alive.
In a statement, the Nangarhar Health Department said that five bodies have been recovered so far. Among them are one man, one woman, two boys and one girl. Efforts to locate the others are still ongoing. A medical team and ambulance have been sent to the spot. It is not yet known what exactly caused the boat to sink. However, Afghan authorities said that the cause of the accident is being investigated.
