Flash floods and landslides caused by monsoon rains in Thailand have killed 22 people. 19 more people were injured.
The British news agency Reuters reported this information about the Thai authorities on Monday.
Authorities said more than 30,000 houses were damaged by floods and landslides. In addition, some provinces have been warned that there is a risk of more floods.
A Russian couple and nine migrant workers from Myanmar were among those killed in a landslide on the southern Thai island of Phuket, reports said. The disaster occurred last week due to heavy rains in 12 provinces of the country.
The country’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said in a statement that flash floods are expected in 31 states in the north and northeastern regions by next Thursday.
The statement added that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has asked local authorities to closely monitor the weather and ordered emergency equipment and teams to be ready.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Patengtarn Shinawatra delivered food to the homes of victims in the northern province of Nan, Thailand.
