57 percent of the country’s people think that ‘Israel has failed’

A recent poll found that only 4 percent of Israelis believe that their country has won the Gaza war and that the government and army have achieved their goals in Gaza. The Middle East Monitor reports.

A poll conducted by the Lazar Research Institute and published in the Israeli newspaper Maariv asked whether Israel had achieved its goals in the war to destroy Hamas.

Only 4 percent of respondents said that Tel Aviv had achieved them. 32 percent said that the goals had not been fully achieved. Another 57 percent said that the goals had not been achieved at all and 7 percent said they did not know.

Regarding whether the war can be said to be over, 31 percent of respondents thought it could be over, 57 percent believed that it could not be said to be over and 12 percent said they did not know.

A survey of 517 people from both the Jewish and Palestinian communities in Israel found that a majority of Israelis believe that the current coalition government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party will collapse if elections are held in the near future.
