AI or artificial intelligence is being added to the curriculum of primary and secondary schools in China. This is what the country’s government has decided.
The matter has been confirmed by local media South China Morning Post. According to the report, a directive from the Chinese Ministry of Education to primary and secondary schools said that it is necessary to improve the quality of artificial intelligence or AI education in schools to meet the country’s needs for innovative talents and enhance students’ digital skills and problem-solving abilities.
The directive also said that students should be introduced to AI technology in the first stage of primary school. In the last stage of primary school and secondary school, students should focus on understanding and applying AI-related topics. And high school students will focus on creating AI-focused innovative projects and its higher application. China presented a plan in 2017 to lead the world in artificial intelligence. Then in 2018, more than 500 universities and colleges in the country launched undergraduate programs in AI.
The Morning Post reported that interest in artificial intelligence has increased in China in recent times due to the ongoing technology war with the United States and the popularity of AI language models such as ChatGPT. Artificial intelligence is the implementation of human intelligence and thinking through machines using technology. It is a branch of computer science, where attempts are made to imitate human intelligence and thinking by computers. Artificial intelligence (AI) has now become an academic field of study, where it is taught how to create computers and software that will demonstrate intelligence.
