Uzbekistan has recorded a sharp rise in demand for road freight transport in the first quarter of 2026, with shipments from Russia and Belarus leading the surge.
Transport requests into Uzbekistan jumped 72% year-on-year and rose 57% compared with the previous quarter. The strongest increase came from Russia, where demand climbed 80%, while requests from Belarus doubled, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Demand on domestic freight routes inside Uzbekistan also soared, tripling compared with the same period last year and rising nearly 50% from the fourth quarter. Analysts say both market growth and the increasing use of digital logistics tools are driving the expansion.
Export shipments showed more moderate growth, rising 10% year-on-year, though they fell 36% compared with the previous quarter. The largest share of outbound requests was linked to Russia, with additional gains toward Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Director of the ATI.SU representative office in Uzbekistan Farid Vakhidov said export growth had slowed due to traffic congestion at the Russia-Kazakhstan border and tighter customs controls, but overall freight demand continues to rise across most routes.
