The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the newly appointed ambassador of the Islamic Emirate to Tashkent has arrived in Uzbekistan.
The deputy spokesperson of the ministry said that the new ambassador is expected to officially start his work in Uzbekistan in the coming days.
Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “Honorable Sheikh Abdul Ghafar, the appointed ambassador of Afghanistan to Uzbekistan, has arrived in the country and will begin his official duties in the near future.”
Meanwhile, some analysts said that the expansion of relations by the interim government is not only beneficial to the Islamic Emirate but also to neighboring countries and the region.
“Diplomatic relations ensure the interests of Afghanistan as well as the countries that expand this process and engage with it. Those that accept the official ambassador of the Islamic Emirate are also securing their fundamental interests through this,” said Sayed Zia Hussaini, a political analyst.
Meanwhile, some other experts believe that this engagement might yield results in the future, but in the short term, it will not open the way for the interim government’s interaction with the world.
“I do not think a direct path to recognition will be created. The direct path to recognition is in the hands of others; those who previously occupied Afghanistan have stopped the process of recognition,” said Sayed Akbar Agha, a political analyst.
Earlier, China and the United Arab Emirates had also officially accepted ambassadors from the Islamic Emirate, but none have taken steps towards recognizing the interim government.
