Attack on Israel: Why China Praises Iran

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian discussed the tension between Iran and Israel over the phone.
Xinhua reported on Tuesday (April 16) that this discussion was held between them on Monday (April 15).
Amir Abdullahian briefed Wang on Tehran’s position on the attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, saying the UN Security Council had not taken any necessary measures on the attack. He referred to the attack on Israel as the right of self-defense.
Noting that the current regional situation is very sensitive, Amir Abdullahian said Iran is willing to show restraint and has no desire to escalate tensions.
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and sought China’s active support for a cease-fire, restoration of regional peace, and strengthening cooperation among regional countries.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China strongly condemns and opposes the attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus. considers this a serious violation of international law and unacceptable.
Wang said China appreciates Iran’s firm stance on not targeting regional and neighboring countries.
He also said that they believe that Iran is capable of handling the situation well while protecting its sovereignty and dignity. Not only that. They are also able to avoid further tensions in the Middle East.
Wang also said that China and Iran are comprehensive strategic partners and China is willing to continue to advance practical cooperation with Iran in various fields for the greater development of bilateral relations.
