Bangladesh raised the incident of firing from Myanmar at the Cox’s Bazar border targeting the people and facilities of this country in the United Nations. Dhaka has said that any conflict in Myanmar is their internal matter. But it should not affect the people and resources of Bangladesh.

The matter was informed in the dialogue held on the human rights situation of the Rohingyas at the 56th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. This information was informed in the press release of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in Geneva.

In the dialogue, it is said from the side of Dhaka that Bangladesh has been sheltering about 1.2 million Rohingyas for seven years despite various limitations. Repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar is the only sustainable solution to this crisis.

He said that Bangladesh has continued to communicate with all concerned parties for the start of Rohingya repatriation. In this regard, he called on the international community to invest in the development of their livelihood system for the assimilation of the Rohingya in Rakhine. He urged all warring parties in Myanmar to protect the Rohingya and ensure their safety. He called for adequate humanitarian assistance for the Rohingyas taking refuge in Bangladesh.

At the start of the dialogue, High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk presented a report on the human rights situation of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar to the Council. He expressed deep concern over the recent escalation of violence, the forced recruitment of Rohingya into the armed forces and the despicable war tactics in Rakhine.

The session of the United Nations Human Rights Council began on June 18 and will continue until July 12.
