Finally, Beijing has announced the name of the Chinese ambassador in India’s Lok Sabha elections. After 18 months, China is sending a diplomat named Xi Feihong as ambassador to Delhi. It is said that he will soon come to Delhi and take up his duties.
Hindustan Times reported this information on Wednesday.
According to reports, he previously served as the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan. He was also the Chinese ambassador to Romania. He is currently the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
Meanwhile, reports published in January claimed that Feihong would be the next Chinese ambassador to India. However, the formalities of appointment of the ambassador and all the rules were pending for several months. In this climate, there was confusion as to when exactly Feihong would arrive in Delhi and assume his duties.
Earlier, Sun Weidong was appointed as the Chinese Ambassador to India. He left India in October 2022. Beijing has not appointed any new ambassadors since then.
On the other hand, if the Chinese ambassador comes to Delhi, the South Block will look at the matter favorably for the time being. However, India does not expect that the border situation will improve.
