Japan said on Tuesday that the manner in which Chinese military aircraft violated its airspace was unacceptable.

Japanese government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi told reporters that Monday’s violation of Chinese military aircraft’s airspace is seen as a threat to Japan’s security.

Tokyo said China’s Y9 surveillance plane was in its airspace for two minutes. They were preparing the fighter jets. Chinese aircraft fly over Danzo Island in the Nagasaki area.

Hayashi said, “This is the first time that a Chinese military aircraft has violated our airspace since we took measures against airspace violations.”

He said Chinese military activity near Japan has increased and the government is looking into it. Japan is ready to take action against airspace violations.

Japan’s foreign ministry summoned diplomats from the Chinese embassy in Tokyo to protest. But what was discussed at the diplomatic level, Hayashi did not say.

He said, we will not say anything in detail about this. All I can say is that China’s military activity towards Japan has increased recently. They are becoming more and more active.

In 2012, a Chinese aircraft violated Japan’s airspace, according to Japan’s state broadcaster NHK. In 2017, a Chinese Coast Guard drone entered Japan’s airspace.
