16 people died in floods in Afghanistan

At least 16 people, including women and children, have died in severe floods in Afghanistan’s Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. On Monday (May 27), NDTV reported this information in a report.

Badakhshan Province was the worst affected by the floods. There, 10 members of a family died and one was injured. Besides, six people died in Larkhab area of Doshi district of Baghlan province. Many have not even found the bodies of the victims.

According to NDTV report, hundreds of houses were destroyed in the flood. Affected families have appealed to the Taliban-led government and aid agencies for help.

Abdul Gafur Khadem, head of Baghlan police command, said, “There was a very strong flood last night. Our major casualties occurred in Larkhab area of Doshi district of Baghlan province. In Larkhab, about six people died, including three. Among the dead are two men including a child, a woman and more than 300 houses have been destroyed in the flood.

Mohammad Kamgar, head of natural disaster management in Badakhshan, said ten members of a family were killed and another injured due to the flood.

Meanwhile, many have lost all their belongings due to the floods. Several such families have also expressed their anger over the delay in reaching the relief. The families have called on the Taliban-led government and aid agencies to provide immediate assistance.

It should be noted that more than 300 people died last week due to severe floods in different parts of Afghanistan. The floods destroyed hundreds of residential houses and destroyed thousands of acres of agricultural land.
