Citizens of 93 countries do not need a visa to travel to Thailand
Thailand has introduced visa-free access facilities for citizens of 93 countries to boost the tourism sector. Citizens of these countries will now be able to travel to the Southeast Asian country without a visa.
Under the scheme launched last Monday, travelers can stay in Thailand for 60 days with visa-free entry. Earlier this facility was for 57 countries.
The tourism industry accounts for a large portion of Thailand’s economy. However, this sector has not yet recovered from the damage caused by Corona.
17.5 million people traveled to Thailand in the first six months of 2024, up 35 percent from the same period last year. Although more tourists used to travel to the country before Corona.
Among the foreign tourists in Thailand, the most people come from China, Malaysia and India. The country earned US$ 23.6 billion from this sector in the first six months of the year. Which is less than one-fourth of the government’s target.
Meanwhile, in addition to tourism, Thailand has given various relaxations for expatriate workers and foreign students. Especially foreign students are given a year to get a job after graduation.
